Alpha One specializes in mobile radiology services. We provide fast, low-dose, high quality X-Ray, Ultrasound, and EKG imaging right here in Southern Louisiana. We service, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and anywhere in between.

An x-ray (radiograph) is a non-invasive medical test that helps diagnose and treat medical conditions. Imaging with x-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body.

A portable x-ray machine is a compact apparatus that can be taken to the patient in a hospital bed or in the home. The x-ray tube is connected to a flexible arm that is extended over the patient while an x-ray film holder or image recording plate is placed beneath the patient.

Until recently, x-ray images were maintained as hard film copy (much like a photographic negative). Today, our images are digital files that are stored electronically. These stored images are easily accessible and are frequently compared to current x-ray images for diagnosis and disease management.

A radiologist, a physician specifically trained to supervise and interpret radiology examinations, will analyse the images and send a signed report to the primary care or referring physician, who will discuss the results with the patient. We will visit you at your location, whether you're in a correctional institution, nursing home, or if the patient is general unable to move.

Why It Is Done

x-ray machine

An x-ray may be performed to:

  • Detect injury to bones such as fractures
  • Identify bone deformities
  • Verify healing of bones
  • Verify placement of other medical devices such as implantable pumps and catheters
  • Rule out- Pneumonia or bronchitis
  • View obstruction or presence of air in the bowel if patient has constipation or abdominal pain
  • See if gallstones or kidney stones are present

For a mobile x-ray with an expedient on-site response discover the area's Alpha 1 serves and request an exam.

Risks

x-ray images

Special care is taken during our mobile x-ray examinations to use the lowest radiation dose possible while producing the best images for evaluation. National and international radiology protection organizations continually review and update the technique standards used by radiology professionals.

Our modern x-ray systems have very controlled x-ray beams and dose control methods to minimize stray (scatter) radiation. This ensures that those parts of a patient's body not being imaged receive minimal radiation exposure.
