The outstanding work of our compassionate technologists is integral to our success in providing patients with superior care, wherever they may be. Meet our newest member of the Alpha One team, ultrasound tech Jamie Terranova!

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Jamie Terranova and I have been an ultrasound tech for 9 years now! 8 of which I have spent working for the same cardiologist in Hammond. I graduated Cum Laude from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in Cardiopulmonary Science.

I have been married for 3 years now, I have 4 little girls (2 of my own and 2 stepdaughters) and they love to drive me crazy! Our favorite thing to do as a family is go to the beach. Our other hobby is participating in CrossFit competitions! We have gotten first place in two of them so far!

Together my husband and I own 4 small businesses: a lawn business, nutrition shop, mobile ultrasound, and inflatables! It appears we like to stay busy!

What’s your favorite part of being an ultrasound tech?

I enjoy being an ultrasound tech because I truly do love helping people. My job gives me satisfaction and fulfillment because I’m part of something great, which is helping to save people’s lives. The images I take help to diagnosis, treat, and cure many people with diseases or life threatening illnesses.

What made you want to be an ultrasound tech?

My dad had a mechanical aortic valve and I used to lie next to him and hear it tick. He ultimately ended up passing away of a dissecting aortic aneurysm when I was 14. The more I learned about his situation, the more the concept of cardiac ultrasound intrigued me. Now I can see firsthand what my dad’s heart may have looked like, why his heart made that clicking sound when I laid next to him, and hopefully help to diagnosis an aneurysm in someone else that can be fixed before it’s too late.

What do you enjoy about the mobile aspect of working for Alpha One?

I have worked in a traditional ultrasound position since the day I graduated, day in and day out for 9 years in the same, small, dark room, that’s enough to make anyone crazy. It dawned on me, why sit in this room working for someone else when I can get my own machine and work for myself. Why stay stagnant in the same position when I can go out into the world and meet so many new doctors, ultrasound techs, and business minded people like me!
